Ryu from Nyoon incorporates the strength and majesty of dragons into its design with a thick shaft and prominent scales. This big boy is a challenge for me, which makes it a mixed bag on how much I like it on any given day, and I can easily say that I like it, but don’t love it.

Design & Specs
Nyoon, a furry sex toy shop based in France, specializes in character-centered designs, featuring both their own unique furry characters alongside guest characters like CoffeeSoda’s Coffee. Their values—including quality, safety, ecological awareness, and inclusivity—align well with my own. Their characters’ stories are depicted through comics which showcase them traveling and having fun in an openly sexual society. Nyoon’s products stand out with their stellar signature colors and the ingenuity of their dual-density dildo, Clock (which I just got the other day and can say is 10/10).

Ryu‘s design features prominent scales along the underside, a base that is both scaled and fluffy, a small head, a moderate curve, and a shapeliness that evokes the whiskers of dragons and well-defined muscles. The satin finish makes it smooth while still having plenty of drag.
In medium size, it has a usable length of 7.4″ and a girth that ranges from 2″ diameter/6.6″ circumference to 2.3″ diameter/7.4″ circumference. This size is considered the canonical size for the character and was the only size available at the time I made my purchase, but Nyoon continues to expand the sizes and models available on their site. For me, this size is a challenge, but still within range of what I should be able to use.
Nyoon almost exclusively sells toys in the signature colorations, but they previously made other stock which was listed on Etsy (which is no longer an option in the wake of Etsy removing sex toys). Ryu’s signature coloration is a visually stunning combination of dark gray and red. My Ryu is a one-off coloration from an Etsy restock: Pearlescent white with a black tuft of fur between the balls.

My Ryu is in medium firmness 00-50. The firmness isn’t disclosed on their site, but I have been advised that Ryu, Tilus, and Coffee are only available to order in medium firmness 00-50. This is my preferred firmness in most cases. It feels similar to tensed muscle and makes it easy to feel texture and the pressure of the dildo.
It feels firmer than other similar toys I own and isn’t that easy to squish. Some of this may be due to the thickness—thicker toys feel relatively denser, and medium-size Ryu is a chunky boy—but I think it’s also slightly firmer in general, similar to how my Wandering Bard dildos feel firmer than expected. Since indie toys are handmade products and shore firmness can be impacted by production environment and additives such as pigments, variation doesn’t surprise me.
Nyoon’s signature colorations are stellar and contribute to their fantastic brand image. Cost-wise, though, their dildos are truly premium items: The color and suction cup together total 35€ ($40 USD) in upcharges. These charges are absolutely fair for the work involved, but they can feel too steep to justify if you don’t use suction cups or aren’t keen on the preset colors.
I would really like to see Nyoon offer alternatives like premade inventory or simple custom/made-to-order listings so that customers can have more affordable options and the ability to select a firmness that works best for them. (Also, some of the premades they created previously were stunningly gorgeous, like a gold-and-white version of Ryu’s signature. I still regret not getting mine in that color.)

Ryu arrived with a branded cotton bag, a care card, a character card of Ryu, a business card, and a silicone bottlecap with a teeny Tilus on it.
My Ryu, as a one-off inventory item with a pretty simple coloration, was listed at $124 and purchased for $100 on sale. Medium Ryu in signature coloration would be 130€ ($150 USD). It’s currently marked as a pre-order product due to production delays.

In Use (Vaginal)
Taking Ryu is a challenge: At 2.3″ thick, it’s thicker than some large dildos I own, made more intense by the scaled texture. I have to be warmed up before I even think about using it, and on sensitive days, it’s not going to work out. Some days I need that kind of challenge, but I have to start slow and use lots of lube. The stretch is strong.
I can only fit the first half or so of the shaft—with the end of the top swell fully seated inside—unless I’m well warmed up and stretched out. I’d like to take it all the way, but the natural stopping point combined with the girth make that difficult, so there’s always an inch or so that I can’t take.
I like the swell shape and it adds welcome variety to the more common unbroken curve of dragon dildos. The dip beneath the upper swell offers a breather from the girth and gives me time to rest and adjust, so it’s easier than going all-in with a dildo that’s thick all the way down.
The scales are strong, making for a delightfully bumpy ride. The edges are pretty smooth rather than hard-edged, and are well-defined without being painful. Against my front wall, it’s fantastic but pushes my limits, with strong texture and a curve that presses right against my G-spot. Against my back wall, it’s not as bad as I worried, but it does grate against the sensitive band of skin at my entrance when rotated that way. The top side, on the other hand, is nice and smooth.

I can’t feel the head in use. It doesn’t stick out enough to make up for the swell overshadowing it. Design-wise, the head is cute, but I would have liked it to extend half an inch to an inch lower so that the coronal ridge would be closer to the peak of the upper swell.
As mentioned earlier, Ryu feels a little firmer than other dildos in 00-50. This firmness is more noticeable in use than in hand. While most dildos in this firmness are pretty comfortable for me, this one leans more towards “rock hard.” I don’t dislike it, and it doesn’t make the texture overwhelming, but it is firmer than I would like overall.
The balls are very easy to hold, and the opposite side of the base has a decent amount to grip onto. It may be possible for some people to grind against the fur between the balls, but since I can’t take the full shaft, I can’t try this.

Overall
Ryu from Nyoon is a gorgeous dildo with beautiful details, strong texture, a great underside curve, and an appealing shape. While I like it, I can’t say I love it; it’s difficult to insert the lower portion of the shaft, the ridges are rough when rotated to press against my back wall, and it’s a touch too firm for my tastes.
I suspect that the small size would be a better fit for me since I would be able to fit the whole thing and the firmness would feel relatively softer without being too soft. I don’t usually go for smalls (or toys under 2″ diameter), but with the prominence of the texture combined with the curve, I think it would work out decently for me. If I wanted something filling that wouldn’t bother my back wall at all, medium Tilus probably would have been a better fit for me.
If you’re considering a Ryu of your own, I would suggest shopping for a size that makes the texture and curve work best for you, rather than a size that fills you up (unless you really want a challenge).
