Review: b-Vibe Vibrating Snug Plug

b-Vibe’s Snug Plug boasts an iconic shape and is a star among the brand’s lineup. I checked out the vibrating version to see if it could stand up to the hype and whether or not it would be as snug as expected.

Design & Specs

b-Vibe is one of the companies under COTR Brands, alongside Ride The Cowgirl and Le Wand. These brands’ products are available through both their own websites and retailers, made of quality materials, and some designs are innovative (like b-Vibe’s Rimming Plug). b-Vibe specializes in toys designed for anal play. I’ve already reviewed one of the few dildos they offer—the dual-density Slipskin Girthy (which is absolutely fantastic)—alongside a couple of their lubes (which are less fantastic).

While I trust the quality of the materials these brands use for their own products, I’m not entirely on board with their ethics—particularly Le Wand—and they carry products from other brands that are made of sub-par materials like PVC (which is porous and can harbor bacteria).

I’m also not jazzed about b-Vibe’s Dragon Plug, which I just recently noticed on their site. It looks like a slightly adjusted copy of indie brand Pleasure Forge‘s Dragon’s Egg Plug (which has been on the market since 2018 or earlier). After reaching out to my contact at COTR Brands, I was advised that b-Vibe’s Dragon Plug is a white label product (meaning it’s designed and produced by a third party) and that they are opposed to design theft and will be investigating.

While white label sex toys are common and not necessarily bad, I haven’t yet seen any white label fantasy sex toy producers that I would trust considering a lot of them appear to have copied other brands’ products. However, most people don’t have sufficient knowledge of the fantasy toy market to realize this.

I want to give b-Vibe the benefit of the doubt. I’m hopeful that it will be removed—and I will update this section if that happens—but as long as this product continues to be sold under their brand name, I am not entirely comfortable recommending b-Vibe as a brand. The rest of this article was written before I found that out, so my feedback is not influenced by the Dragon Plug being on b-Vibe’s website.

Onto the Snug Plug…

I’ve been on a plug kick ever since I got a really good one, and the Snug Plug seemed like the right choice to try out. I’m not interested in anal vibrators, so I requested the weighted plug… and received the version that vibrates. It’s about the same size and weight as the non-vibrating one, so it works out alright in the end. I don’t believe this mix-up would happen to a standard order since it seems to have been the result of a stock issue; b-Vibe’s site would prevent ordering items that are out of stock.

The Vibrating Snug Plug in size 4 has an insertable length of 5.3″, max diameter of 1.7″, and weight of 247g (a little over half a pound). It comes in two color options: Navy and Black. (Other sizes have other color options.) In comparison, the non-vibrating Snug Plug in size 4 is a touch shorter, a touch heavier, and the same girth.

The silicone is velvety matte and soft enough to squish on the surface, but sturdy due to the firm internals. It’s advertised as water-resistant: It can get wet, but should not be submerged.

Mine arrived packaged in a product box and including stickers, a small storage bag, and a silicone-coated USB charging cord.

List price for the Vibrating Snug Plug in size 4 is $114.99. The non-vibrating version is $69.99. b-Vibe has regular sales, so it’s worth waiting for those, or you can use my 25% off promo code: FROST25. (This code does not stack with other promotions.)

In Use (Anal)

Let’s start at the tip: It looks easy to insert, but looks can be deceiving. The tip is tapered and the ridge near the top has nice rounded edges, but the ridge actually isn’t that easy to get inside. Part of the problem comes down to size: I wanted something filling and on the larger end of my capacity, but it turns out that the top doesn’t play as nicely as I had hoped. In a smaller size, it would likely work better. It takes me a few minutes just to get the tip inside because of the tip’s awkward shape and the lack of leverage from the stem.

The stem is straight up silicone. It’s durable, but with the thinness, it can only stretch so much. There shouldn’t be any need to stretch it much, so that should not be a concern. The base has materials internally that keep it inflexible and anal-safe; it would take a real effort to bend the base enough to insert.

Once inside, it lives up to its name and sits snugly. It seats itself fully, so the T-base is right against me with the entire plug and stem inside. The stem doesn’t have any presence at all, leaving no residual stretch at or near my entrance, while the plug sits a couple inches inside. It has a presence with solid pressure so I can continue to feel it, yet it stays in place without getting uncomfortable even when I’m moving around.

The plug is weighted. I’m honestly not sure I can tell much of a difference between it and a solid silicone plug in use aside from the level of pressure it provides. As heavy as metal toys can be, I thought it would be more obvious. At least the weight doesn’t make it so heavy that it’s hard to keep in place.

I can move around freely without feeling discomfort or like it’s going to fall out, so I can take a shower, masturbate externally, or even try out some double penetration by playing with a dildo vaginally (a great time to pull out the small dildos in my collection). The downside of DP is that even a slim dildo catches on the edge of the T-base, making the ride a little bumpy.

The comfort and opportunity for mobility are excellent. The pressure and presence it has are great. But for me, the plug doesn’t sit where I want it to be. In using this plug, I’ve realized that part of what I enjoy about butt plugs is that they fill me up right inside the entrance, where I’m most sensitive. With such a long stem, it goes deep enough to miss the mark.

Even though this plug is on the larger end for me and I have some difficulty inserting it, removal is very easy and not nearly as difficult as removing rounder plugs. I relax enough to let the lower ridge come out, then the rest comes naturally. There isn’t a need to pull it out by the base at all.

In Use (Vaginal)

Some butt plugs work really well for vaginal use! This is not one of them. The shape does not allow it to stay in place well and the size is too small to be satisfying. This toy sits firmly in the “butt plug” lane.

Vibrations

This is the quietest vibrator I own. I’ve owned a handful of vibrators, including brands which tout themselves as luxury, and every single one that advertises itself as quiet still fails to pass a closed-door test after a few intensity levels (if they pass it at all). This plug, on the other hand, is whisper-quiet on the first level, and the highest intensity is quieter than the lowest intensity on many of my other vibes. I wish all vibrators were this quiet.

It has ten modes: Five intensity levels and five patterns. The vibrations are moderately strong: Satisfying for most, but not likely to wow those seeking something intense.

To be honest, I don’t get much at all from the vibrations, but I expected that going into this (hence why I didn’t request the vibrating version in the first place). Internal vibrations just don’t do it for me. (Something like the rimming plug would probably be more appealing for that purpose since the vibrations would be focused at the entrance.) Thankfully, it has a travel lock mode if you hold the power button for five seconds, so it shouldn’t accidentally turn on when I’d rather not have vibrations.

The power button is tedious to use. If I press it, it pushes against my body and it just doesn’t have enough support to easily let me press the button. I end up having to grip the base with two fingers, one to press the button and my thumb to hold it in place, which is awkward. Especially when my fingers have lube on them and so does the base so everything is slippery.

While some b-Vibe products come with a remote control, the Vibrating Snug Plug doesn’t. It really should.

Overall

b-Vibe’s Vibrating Snug Plug sits comfortably in place and has whisper-quiet vibrations. It has a decent shape and vibrations, but for me, it misses the mark since the bulb of the plug seats deeper than I prefer and it’s awkward to press the button for vibrations.

If you like plugs that vibrate, sit a couple inches deep, and offer high mobility, it’s worth a look. The quality is good and the price isn’t bad with a discount. I would recommend a size that can be comfortably inserted since the tip is not as conveniently shaped as some other plugs.

If those traits don’t appeal to you, though, I’d suggest considering a more classically shaped plug.
