Hot Octopuss Amo is a 2-in-1 kind of vibrator, making it excellent for beginners and a great way to switch styles without switching vibes. Its unique shape looks nice and works surprisingly well with my anatomy as a trans man.
Design & Specs
The Sex Shed, run by the writers behind the Spices of Lust blog, carries a great selection of high-quality mainstream toys, particularly vibrators. Their curated categories, such as hands-free sex toys and toys for trans or gender-diverse folks, help connect customers with products that will suit their needs and tastes. They provided the Hot Octopuss Amo in this review (plus a Liberator Fascinator Throw Mini) and they also carry Dame Com and njoy Pure Wand which I enjoy.
Hot Octopuss, best known for their Pulse vibrating stroker, aims to stand out with inventive, imaginative, and inclusive design. I’ve always been intrigued by their designs, but haven’t had the chance to try anything from them until now.

Hot Octopuss Amo is a bullet vibrator with a unique feather-shaped design. Its top has one edge for pinpoint vibrations and a rounded half for broad vibrations, making it a 2-in-1 kind of deal. It has two color options: Black body with a hot pink to black handle, and wine red body with a wine red to black handle. Mine is wine red, which is the only color currently available from The Sex Shed’s supplier.
The Amo has three buttons: One which can be held to power the device on or off, or tapped to switch patterns; and two on the opposite side which are up/down buttons for intensity. The arrangement is intuitive, but the buttons are indented rather than sticking out, which looks clean but reduces tactile response. I can’t always tell if I’ve actually pressed the up/down buttons sometimes. Sound-wise, it’s whisper quiet behind a closed door, but you might want to put on a fan above level 3 if you’re worried.
It came in a box with a black satin bag, a USB charging cord (pin-style, so the other end goes inside the side of the vibe), a booklet with detailed specs, and a text-free booklet with very basic operating instructions (which for the life of me I cannot photograph well due to the shininess).
Hot Octopuss Amo retails for $50-55. With 20% off for the Black Friday sale, that drops it to $44. Outside of Black Friday, The Sex Shed offers 11% off your first order after entering your email into the popup (or click the “11% off” button on the right side of the screen), which would bring the price to $48.95.

In Use
The vibe has a rounded portion and a tapered tip. When I first saw it, I hoped the tip would work to cup the side of a t-dick while providing focused vibrations, but wasn’t sure how the rounded shape would go. Both sides transfer the vibrations well, so it allows me to try both sensations in one vibe. Normally I wouldn’t go for a multi-function vibe (like rabbit vibes or the ones that try to do everything at once), but this one manages multiple sensations with a single motor and single function, which is kind of cool.
The rounded portion is similar to a wand or other rounded vibe: The vibrations are broad, not focused. I don’t get much from it unless it has a lot of power, but it can prolong a session, kind of like a massage. After my experience with the Dame Com wand, I tried the Amo’s round side and quickly moved along. It’s not the part that I’m interested in.
The tapered edge, much like lipstick-shaped bullet vibes, focuses vibrations in the tip. This is the style of stimulation that works best for me. The Amo’s shape can align with the way I normally use lipstick-tip vibes—I like to insert the tip between the hood and the head of my clit/t-dick to get the stimulation right along the edge of the head. The vibrations are a little less focused than a regular pinpoint vibe on account of the wider tip.

Amo’s long edge makes it easier to keep stimulation where I want it and allows me to get targeted stimulation to more of the head at once. I sometimes find bullet vibes slip around and are tedious to hold in place. Amo’s shape “cups” whichever side it’s pressed against. When sitting still, it’s easy to keep in place.
When moving, it doesn’t stay between the foreskin and head that easily. However, it’s very enjoyable to use Amo to stroke my clit like a finger/tongue would while I’m riding a dildo. That motion retains the focused stimulation I enjoy while being viable even if I’m moving a lot.
It’s easy to hold. There is some vibration transfer to my hand, but not enough to make my knuckles hurt on intensity levels 1-4. Level 5 makes my knuckles ache a little bit.
Intensity levels 1-2 don’t do too much for me, but are nice for warmup. Level 3 is moderately strong. I’ll normally start on level 2 for half a minute, bump up to 3 for a while, then steadily make my way up to 4 and then 5. If I’m in the right mood, level 3 is enough to get me off.

There are four patterns (not counting the straightforward vibration mode). Two patterns tap with breaks in between, but I find that stop-start patterns kill my mood, even when cycling through them. Two other patterns flow from low to high intensity and back again, but the pace is fast in a way that makes it difficult to savor the highs. So I only use the basic mode and ignore the patterns.

Overall
Hot Octopuss Amo is well designed for my anatomy as a transitioning trans man, with a shape that’s easy to use even while moving and which provides broad stimulation while remaining decently strong.
I would highly recommend Amo as a first vibrator. The 2-in-1 shape offers the opportunity to experience both pinpoint and broad vibrations, and the strength and low volume at this price point are pretty decent. If you like the tapered side, you’ll likely enjoy bullet vibes with a tapered tip or lipstick shape. If you like the round side, you’ll probably like wands.
I’d also recommend Amo for anyone who wants a bullet vibe that’s easy to move without worrying about keeping it in place.
It’s decently strong, but not what I’d call powerful. If you need a real punch, I’d suggest going for something that’s known for its power, like a We-Vibe Tango or Nü Sensuelle Iconic or Point.
