Review: Le Wand Contour Steel Dildo + Sexual Accelerator Gel

The combination of filling girth and precise steel called me to try Le Wand Contour and find out if it could truly be the best of both worlds. Would it satisfy my need to be filled while also pressing firmly against my favorite spots? Can it do the job just as well as a silicone dildo?

Design & Specs

Le Wand carries a wide selection of vibrators alongside their line of steel dildos and additional products retailed from other brands. They’re a sister company to Ride The Cowgirl and b-Vibe, all under COTR Brands. These brands’ products are available through both their own websites and retailers, making them widely accessible, and at a lower price than their competitors.

Le Wand Contour is the largest among Le Wand’s line of steel dildos. Made of solid 316 stainless steel, it’s safe, durable, and resistant to corrosion.

It’s also very heavy, at a whopping 4.4 pounds. This doesn’t sound that heavy until it’s in your hand and you realize exactly how hefty it is. (I do like them big…)

The design features a gentle S-curve with two usable sides, both of which are capped with a flat head that has rounded edges and a central bump. The slim side has three gentle ripples along one side of the shaft, with the head 1.5″ diameter (4.25″ circumference) at the widest point; and the thick side is up to 1.9″ across (5.5″ circumference). The total length is just shy of 11″, and it comfortably fits around 6-8″ from either side.

When it comes to soft silicone, 2″ across is where I start when it comes to feeling filled, but for hard materials, I’m going for a different sensation. For steel, the weight contributes to how filled I feel. Besides that, I get steel and firm dildos for the purpose of focused stimulation: I don’t need to feel filled, I want to poke at certain spots or feel a flow of movement that I can’t get otherwise.

Le Wand Contour shares a lot of design similarities with njoy Eleven. This seems to be part of a trend where Le Wand’s designs are derivative rather than innovative—that is, they appear to copy others rather than come up with their own distinct designs. The Arch appears to be Le Wand’s only truly unique steel design. With the low variety of steel dildos on the market, it disappoints me that Le Wand has taken this route instead of choosing to stand out.

At around half the price (less when on sale), the Contour looks like a financially appealing, slightly smaller alternative to the Eleven. I was very curious to find out how the quality is and if the obvious differences would stand out in use, particularly the shape of the heads and the weight. (As far as I am aware, njoy’s steel dildos are hollow while Le Wand’s are not, making Le Wand’s much heavier.)

The Contour came in its own product box within the discreet shipping box, inside which was a cleaning cloth, care instructions, and a soft black bag just large enough to hold the dildo.

Unlike the silicone toys I normally use, which should not be used with lubes that have silicone ingredients such as silicone or hybrid lubes, the Contour should be compatible with any lubes.

Because it lacks a flared base or dramatic curve, use caution if using the Contour for anal play and make sure to hold onto it.

Le Wand Sexual Accelerator Gel piqued my interest when I saw it among Le Wand’s products. While I don’t need any help getting aroused (thank you, testosterone), I certainly wouldn’t mind more intense sensations or other enhancements. I’m aware that products like this are hit-or-miss, often depending on the individual, so while I was hopeful, I was prepared for the possibility that it might not do much for me.

The gel is free from silicone ingredients, so it should be safe for use with silicone toys. The gel includes arginine, which may interact with certain medications.

The bottle was packaged in a plain cardboard box inside the shipping box. It didn’t come with instructions or anything; just the bottle with the product name and ingredients on it. Usage info is on the website, which recommends “just a dab […] 10 minutes before playtime”. I choose to interpret “a dab” as 1-2 drops. 1 drop is alright, but 2 will fully cover my hood and clit (so, the entire t-dick). Personally, I really think usage info should be paired with the physical product itself.

Le Wand Contour retails for $225 and Le Wand Sexual Accelerator Gel retails for $19.99. As I post this article, their July sale is ongoing, which heavily discounts both of these products.

Sexual Accelerator Gel In Use

The first time I tried the gel, it took about ten pumps to prime the bottle before it pumped out anything. It pumps out a small drop at a time, which is enough to cover my clit and foreskin with a thin layer. I first tested a drop on my wrist and it did not feel like anything, nor did it cause a rash or other adverse reaction, so I determined it should be safe to use.

I started out with one drop to the foreskin. Now that I’m more familiar with it, I apply it to the foreskin and my clit, using two drops, but some people may do best with one drop.

After about half a minute, the minty burn starts. It’s not painful enough to wash off, but if you’ve ever felt mint on your bits, you probably know what it’s like. With one drop on the hood, it fades within a couple of minutes. With two drops all over, it takes more like ten minutes before it fades. Afterwards, the gel just feels like slippery lube, but the effects remain for a while after.

After a few tries, I got used to the sensation and the burn felt less intense.

At first, I didn’t think this had an effect beyond the minty freshness… because I was applying it to my clit and then playing with dildos without touching my clit. I was hoping for something like more stiffness, more sensitivity, or more desire to be touched, but I don’t get that at all.

What it seems to do is fast-track the blood vessels to full arousal. After about ten minutes, the hood/foreskin is soft and plush, and my clit and foreskin respond to external touch in a similar way to when I’m fully aroused, even if I wasn’t actually that aroused to begin with. However, it doesn’t seem to have much of an effect otherwise, and it doesn’t cause me to fully stiffen; I still need to be mentally aroused and/or physically touch myself to get an erection.

Le Wand’s website advertises that this gel will heighten sensitivity and bring “deeper, more powerful climaxes.” The sensitivity isn’t any different from my usual peak arousal and it doesn’t change my orgasms, although we could count it as heightening sensitivity in a not-mentally-aroused state.

On occasion, my depression and stress can make it difficult to become fully aroused, and this gel would help me reach that stage (at least in terms of the tissues being soft and sensitive). It also feels nice to skip the “warming up” stage of external masturbation, if I have the patience to wait ten minutes before touching myself.

That said, I can’t see myself using this long-term. It’s fun to try, but I don’t have much need for it, and I’m not that into the minty sensation.

Contour In Use

The small head and the three ripples beneath it.

I like it when steel presses against certain spots inside me, placing unyielding pressure on them exactly where I focus it. The shape of the heads seemed ideal for that.

Both heads are pleasant, but only when the flat side of the inserted head faces against my front wall. Because of the curve, inserting the dildo rotated the other way around puts pressure against my anal canal in an unpleasant way. That’s about what I expected: A strong curve that focuses the G-spot/A-spot would press against the canal when rotated.

The thicker head is comfortably filling. It goes inside buttery smooth and sinks in effortlessly with its heavy weight. The weight has a sort of presence I haven’t felt before, adding a new factor to the fullness I feel and a new element to thrusting. I love the way it just sinks down into me.

I love pressing the thick head against my front wall for very broad front wall and G-spot stimulation. It’s satisfying; rarely do I have something this large and firm for that sort of thing. One thing I like to do is rotate it while it’s inside; the ripple in the middle of the head, and the more pronounced rounded edges, both rub against my front wall to add a little more friction and pressure. While it can’t make me squirt, it feels like it comes close at times, yet without feeling like it risks bruising my urethra (as I unfortunately sometimes get if I’m too rough with my njoy Pure Wand).

The downside to the weight of the larger end is that, even when relaxing it, it can put some pressure on my back wall. This isn’t painful at all, but it can give the feeling that I’m backed up. It’s unpleasant, but it’s relatively easy to avoid this by guiding the head in the direction of my cervix and maintaining control over how I handle it. Better control over the weight—perhaps by making it hollow—would probably avoid this, but at the cost of losing some of the pleasant heaviness.

Contour next to the Pure Wand.

The small head is better for focused G-spot stimulation, but nowhere near curved enough to make the sensation particularly strong, so it’s not quite what I’d go for for that purpose. However, it’s enjoyable to poke and prod inside myself at whichever spots I want to press against, focusing the pressure wherever I please.

I can manage to maneuver myself to get a severe angle where it presses very firmly against my G-spot, but it’s awkward and not feasible to hold such a position long.

I can hardly feel the ripples along the shaft unless I angle the dildo in a way to rub against my clit. The toy is too smooth and slim, and the ripples are too shallow. I wish they were more pronounced because they seem like a great idea.

Thrusting the small head is a chore: The thicker side is very heavy, so holding it as a handle tires me out pretty quickly.

When using either head, the dildo can sink in fairly deep and I can get a bit of A-spot stimulation, but it’s nothing like a good coronal ridge. I suspect that friction has something to do with it and the steel is just too smooth for that satisfaction.

Temperature-wise, steel is great at holding temperature, but it levels out after only a handful of minutes. Usually, I have to sit while cradling the Contour against my leg so it can warm up before I use it, because it’s pretty chilly at room temperature, but there should be no harm if I were to use it while cool. It heats up great under hot water from the tap or shower, and the warmth inside of me is very satisfying, but since it only lasts a few minutes, I don’t usually bother. After being used for a little while, it becomes comfortably warm.

I would recommend having a tissue or towel on hand in case you wish to switch which side you’re using mid-play session, so that you can wipe down the side you’re using as a handle.

Overall

Le Wand Contour’s large side is spectacular for a very firm probing of my insides, and the rounded edges of the flat head are stellar for pressing against my G-spot when I angle it appropriately. The smaller side is pleasant, but the weight of holding onto the large side while maneuvering it makes it a real workout. Ultimately, it’s very satisfying, but it takes some practice and handling to make it work the best that it can.

The Contour is so visually similar to the njoy Eleven that the two are hard to tell apart at a glance. That’s quite a shame, especially considering that two parts I enjoy—the head shape and the weight—are unique to the Contour. Give it a slightly stronger curve on the slim end, move/add some ridges, shorten the overall length a bit, and you could have something excellent with a distinct silhouette that doesn’t look like it’s trying to copy someone else’s work.

Le Wand Sexual Accelerator Gel expedites the arousal of my sensitive tissues, making the clitoral hood soft, plush, and sensitive as it usually is at full arousal. I’m not keen on the minty tingle, but it’s not overbearing and it fades within minutes. It can be nice to skip some warmup or to have a helping hand if I’m having a hard time getting into the mood, but I don’t have much need for this gel and I probably wouldn’t get it again.
