Review: Magic Within TERLUS Alien Dildo

TERLUS is a sleek alien dildo with a thick swell that’s designed to lock inside the user. It’s an aesthetically appealing design, but I honestly had no idea what the texture would feel like and I was really curious about how the swell would feel in use.

Maybe it’s the design itself. Maybe it’s just the size. Whatever it is, it surpassed my expectations and might just be my favorite dildo with a swell.

Design & Specs

Magic Within, based in the Czech Republic/Czechia, crafts products with stunningly sculpted designs and exceptionally detailed handpainting. Their toys are mechanical and alien themed, with crisply sculpted details that enhance the fantasy. I’ve previously reviewed their MERCIO, CEPHALLUS, and ÅLTHORION.

TERLUS, designed and sculpted by freelance artist Deviant Gardens (who also sculpted Daybreak), is an alien dildo (inspired by popular video game aliens) with a prominent swell and strong curve. The tip is slim with a small head, quickly widening into a massive swell before slimming just above the base to allow the swell to lock inside. It is moderately textured, with a few clusters of bumpy texture and vertical overlapping plates near the base.

Every shop has a different system behind their sizing. Magic Within’s smalls are actually small, being slimmer and shorter than average penis sizes. My TERLUS is extra large, with 7″ usable length and a maximum girth of 7.4″ circumference. This size is similar to some of my medium-size swells, so while “extra large” sounds intimidating, it’s within my size range.

In medium firmness 00-50, it has some squish but a fair amount of resistance. The finish is satin, giving it a smooth feeling and semi-shiny appearance that shows off colors nicely.

When requesting the colors for my other toys from Magic Within, I aimed for fantastical realism. This time around, I just wanted something pretty, so I requested a three-color fade with handpainted sparkles on the base. I gave them a couple of options and asked them to surprise me with one. The result is a gorgeous sunset-inspired pour that fades from light purple at the base to orange-pink in the middle and gold at the top, with white sparkles at the base that glow in the dark.

XL TERLUS starts at €120 ($140 USD) for a single-color pour. A custom like mine with three main colors, glow in the dark, and a single-color handpainted pattern would cost €180 ($210 USD). Handpainting takes a lot of skill to get the technique right (it needs to be painted inside the toy mold before the other colors are poured, otherwise the painted colors may flake off), so be prepared for a steep upcharge if you request that.

The two color mock-ups I shared with Magic Within.

Magic Within is capable of painting all the details on TERLUS in a realistic manner—see the designer’s stunning custom copy—but painting details on the higher parts of the toy is more costly because it’s difficult to paint deep inside the mold, and it may not be an option for all sizes or all orders.

For single color customs, Magic Within works with customers to determine which exact pigment to use, so there are lots of options available.

In addition to TERLUS, I also received a CHIP cat squishy and a satin storage bag.

In Use (Vaginal)

TERLUS feels the way I imagine the perfect knot would feel. This might seem odd considering it’s a swell, but when I ignore the visual shape, it fills the fantasy in use: A slender tip, a thick section that takes some effort to push inside, and a very good lock that leaves me feeling filled without having to hold it inside. I’ve mentioned before how some swells are similar to knots, but none of my other swells come this close.

Positioning the underside of TERLUS (the outer side of the swell) against my front wall is the easiest way to insert it. With enough lube, once the swell starts to go in, it slips in all in one go. Once inside, it presses right up against my G-spot and stretches me nicely. Lying back and clenching around it is downright fantastic as it keeps pressing against my front wall in the right way. The first time I did that, I honestly wasn’t sure if I was gushing the same way that I do when I squirt. Not needing to move in order to get sufficient stimulation is rare for me. The firmness makes sure I never lose its presence inside of me (which can happen when dildos are too soft).

Large MERCIO, XL TERLUS, and HOLSTER.

While I don’t need to move to enjoy TERLUS, it is nice to do so. I like to thrust along the last couple inches of the shaft, keeping the peak of the swell inside. It’s a little tedious to do this, both because of how strong the lock is and how short the base is on that side, but it’s workable. If I’m really warmed up and stretched out, I can pop the swell in and out, repeatedly stretching myself open and getting more friction. The base is very easy to hold, so that part of thrusting is convenient.

The texture along the underside is very pleasant. I wasn’t sure if vertical texture would do much for me, but the plated shapes are just enough texture to feel very nice; they’re not overwhelming enough to be uncomfortable and not so subtle that they get lost or are hard to define.

Flipped around the other side, it’s more difficult to insert, and the tip is uncomfortable. This might have to do with my posterior fornix (which I’ve explored with a couple of toys); TERLUS is long enough for the tip to push my depth limits.

Overall

TERLUS has an impressive swell and surprisingly nice texture. It’s easy to hold, the extra large is an excellent size for me, and the colors stand up to Magic Within’s stellar track record. I reach for it when I want to be more filled than a knot. This is my favorite dildo so far from Magic Within, and it might just be my favorite dildo with a swell.
