Back in 2022, I reviewed Nox, which disappointed me in a few ways not related to the design itself—so I got a new one. Considering it’s my most popular review and the issues with ordering were from a decade ago, I figured I’d write an updated review that reflects the company’s quality at current day and also share my thoughts on their cum lube.

Design & Specs
Bad Dragon is the big name brand in fantasy sex toys. They restock thousands of handmade toys every weekday, all made with high quality silicone and a range of beautiful colorations. They continuously expand their model lineup, which includes masturbators alongside fantasy and human dildos, and many dildos come in sizes that appeal to size queens. With the size and popularity of the company, they’re many people’s introduction to fantasy toys and they’re able to support projects like award ceremonies that bring a bigger spotlight onto this space.

There’s some controversy related to Bad Dragon. I’ve seen enough issues over the years—like the recent alleged copying of products from indie furry clothing company Tail Ends, or the use of Rising Sun imagery in their haoris which are advertised as kimonos—that I personally prioritize buying from indie brands or secondhand* instead.
It’s hard to find an up-to-date list of relevant and verified issues with Bad Dragon; if you do find info, I advise taking it with a grain of salt, verifying what you can, and making your own judgment. Not all of the rumors are true (like those about BD using sub-par silicone or creating lifecasts) and some are very old or no longer relevant to the current state of the business (like allegations against former employees), but some are possible to verify through screenshots or active pages.
I don’t ask that others not buy from them; they’re a huge company with high product availability and a big catalog, and I try not to judge anyone for their purchasing decisions, but I do encourage everyone to make informed purchasing decisions. Considering their popularity and presence on the secondhand market, I plan to continue reviewing the Bad Dragon toys that I already own so that people can make informed purchases, but I am unlikely to buy directly from them again since they are continuing to put their money towards things that, in my eyes, are tasteless and harm indie creators.
* Platinum cure silicone can be sanitized at home, so there is a secondhand market for fantasy sex toys. I have purchased a number of toys myself from trusted community members, including some of my Bad Dragon dildos.

Nox is a dragon dildo with a scaled base. The head has three gentle spikes along the ridge which lead into a line of nubs along the top side of the shaft. The underside and base feature muscular texture and a vein runs along the side of the shaft. The top 2/3 of the shaft is a gentle swell with a strong curve.
My original Nox gives me mixed feelings. I’ve always been disappointed in the color; Bad Dragon lost my original multicolor inventory toy and would only offer to repour in a single solid color. Since using it with silicone lube and condoms (which are usually lubricated with silicone lube) before I knew about the negative interaction between silicone dildos and silicone lube, the surface has been tacky in an unpleasant way. Yet the design and specs work very well for me. I usually prefer not to buy duplicates of dildo models, but when I saw one in the perfect colors, I decided to grab a replacement so I could finally set aside Sad Purple Nox.

In medium size, Nox stands over 8″ tall, with 7″ of that usable, and the girth reaches up to 2.1″ diameter (6.5″ circumference). This is comparable to many medium-size dildos. In medium firmness 00-50, Nox has a decent amount of squish. The finish is matte but not rough.
There are minimal differences between my Noxes. The older one has a notable lean on the upper shaft which makes it more difficult to stand upright, but the sizing is otherwise the same. The newer one has a slightly more defined skinlike texture, making it look a little rougher, but the surface texture feels the same. And, of course, the new one has none of the tackiness of the old one.
The coloration is called Stroke of Midnight: Threads of black, white, and gold through glittery unpigmented silicone (which is naturally cloudy). It fits perfectly into my collection of typhon-inspired pours. While Bad Dragon uses stock photos for a lot of their named colorations in inventory, a few premium colors get unique photos taken, as is the case with this one.

Medium size Nox starts at $120. The Stroke of Midnight coloration has a $40 upcharge, so the list price was $160. Bad Dragon has occasional sales on older inventory, so I managed to purchase mine for $144 after a 10% discount.
I also ordered medium Orochi, medium Nova, and a bottle of cum lube. The package arrived with a few small seasonal goodies and tissue paper with dildos printed on it.

In Use (Vaginal)
Nox fits me very comfortably. It doesn’t feel as filling as it used to when I first got it, but it’s still satisfying size-wise.
The swell of the top part of the shaft locks in somewhat, giving a natural stopping point before the increase in girth at the base of the shaft. Gentle swells like this are great for a filled sensation. It’s exceptionally easy to slide in and out, whether riding or thrusting, especially with such mild texture. That makes it ideal for use with accessories like handles.
It’s long enough to hit my A-spot and with the right curve and head shape to do it consistently. G-spot stim with the head isn’t as reliable when thrusting, but still manageable. When turned so the underside is against my front wall, the curve is nice but not powerful, giving me broad G-spot stim.
The texture is subtle enough that I can’t pinpoint it in use, but I can identify the added friction and stimulation. Although it’s not as prominent as I prefer, it works with the model overall; the shape itself does a good job of targeting all the right places. The matte finish adds a decent amount of friction that enhances the overall sensation, although that can be minimized by adding a lot of extra lube.
The ridge of the head is gentle enough that it doesn’t pop but notable enough that I can feel it constantly pressing against my front wall. It’s difficult to produce models with spikes that point outwards or downwards, so the spikes on the head are smoothed into the shaft, making it gentler than it appears.
Nox is good for both riding and thrusting. The base is heavy enough to keep it in place on a flat surface and large enough for a steady grip when thrusting. The shaft brushes against the underside of my clit (which is larger thanks to T) which is a nice bit of extra stimulation, and riding is better for continually rubbing the head against my G-spot.
As with most dildos, grinding against the base doesn’t work out for me. Nor does frotting against the shaft; it’s too smooth to be interesting and it’s too slippery.

In Use (Oral)
Only the head fits in my mouth. The tip is pretty comfortable, but the ridge is a stretch and my teeth scrape against it, so I prefer taking just the tip. That said, once the ridge is inside, it’s not too bad on my jaw. It’s easiest to use upside-down with the top of the head against my tongue, making for a pleasing entry.
It’s too big for my tastes, unfortunately, but definitely viable for those who enjoy a challenge (or have bigger mouths than mine).
Cum Lube
Bad Dragon’s Cum Lube works well with my body. It’s available at $7 for an 8oz bottle, which is on the more affordable side as far as lubes go. It’s the only water-based white lube I can find that’s not a silicone/hybrid lube, does not have parabens, and does not have glycerin. The pH is supposedly not ideal for vaginal use. (For more info on what makes lube safe or ideal, check out this guide.)
It’s the lube I use most often right now. I like to rotate my lube use with Sliquid H2O since I know the Cum Lube doesn’t have ideal specs for vaginal use. I’ve had minimal issues using Bad Dragon’s lube over the past couple years, but it does make me feel a little funky if I use it for all my play sessions, so the rotation is necessary.
It functions as I expect from lube: A little drizzle makes things sufficiently slick; I may need more lube for bigger or more textured dildos; and I don’t need to reapply too often. (This seems like a baseline expectation, but apparently there are lubes that don’t meet that standard.) It’s a little sticky/stringy, but nowhere near the level of K-Lube.
The cum visual is great, but doesn’t last long. After a little bit of penetration it spreads out enough that it doesn’t really look white anymore. I love dripping some on my skin for more of a visual, but it’s not as thick and white as it seems in the bottle, especially as it drips/oozes away. If I used a lot more of it, that could make the white visual last longer, but I’d rather not run out of lube that quickly.
The lube comes in both clear and white varieties, with no difference in price.
Overall
Bad Dragon Nox is well-designed and fantastic in use. It’s got the curve that I love for A-spot stimulation. It was just the right size for me starting out and remains a favorite in that regard. In use, the new Nox is about the same as my old Nox, but without the tacky feeling of the old one.
If someone’s shopping Bad Dragon, I would recommend this model for people dipping their toes into the waters of fantasy toys, those who like A-spot stim, those who like low-texture toys, or those who like the sizing. I would also recommend checking out their cum lube if you’re shopping for lube and buying from them anyway; it might not fit ideal specs for vaginal use, but it is one of the few water-based white lubes on the market with minimal negative ingredients.
That said, considering the concerns around Bad Dragon, I’d recommend checking out indies instead if you’re not dead set on a certain Bad Dragon model. Most toys in my collection are from indies that I could recommend, and my affiliates on the sidebar (or bottom of the page, if you’re on mobile) are among the shops that I could recommend.
